New Health Order for Yolo County Health Workers (10-3-23)

On October 3, 2023 the Yolo County Health Officer issued an order for health care workers in Yolo County to receive a seasonal influenza vaccination or to wear a surgical mask in patient care areas during flu season (November 1 through April 30). Read the memo here.

In addition, the Health Officer issued a memo strongly recommending that all health care workers in Yolo County receive an updated COVID-19 vaccine. The memo also provides guidance on source control masking in health care settings during the upcoming respiratory virus season. Read the memo here.

Order four FREE at-⁠home COVID-⁠19 tests

Free antigen at-home tests are now available to order and will be delivered directly to your home via mail. Visit http://www.covid.gov/tests or order by phone at 1-800-232-0233.

FREE COVID-19 rapid testing kits available at Health and Human Services Agency Office

A free test kit vending machine is available at the Yolo County Health and Services Agency Office in West Sacramento at 500 Jefferson Blvd. There are also limited free home test kits available at Yolo County libraries including the Arthur F. Turner Library in West Sacramento.

There are several other COVID 19 testing options available to the public including at retail pharmacies and through your doctor's office.

Molecular Matrix in West Sacramento is also offering testing which is free with health insurance. Rapid tests are available for a fee. Details can be found by visiting the Molecular Matrix website at molecularmatrix.com.

City of West Sacramento

City Hall is closed to the public except for appointment only payments of utility bills and parking permits.
The Community Center and Recreation Center will be closed until further notice.
The City’s core public services will not be affected and will continue, including police and fire services, operations and maintenance of critical infrastructure (sewer and water), garbage and recycling services, limited parks maintenance, and management of the City’s emergency operations center.

City Meetings

NOTE: Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order N-29-20, until further notice, Council, Commission and Committee members and staff will participate in meetings via a teleconference. To reduce the spread of COVID-19, members of the public are asked to watch the meeting Livestream, or via Wave Cable Channel 20.
City Council meetings are generally held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month. Regular session at 7:00 PM. View Meetings and Agenda information. In an effort to accommodate social distancing, individuals may participate on any item of a public meeting agenda, including City Council, by emailing comments to clerk@n-73.net prior to 6:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting.

Meals

Yolo Food Bank will begin a free home-delivered food service. The program will continue until further notice. Please call 530-668-0690 or email info@yolofoodbank.org to participate. Individuals who are not low-income are urged to contact a for-profit grocery delivery service, so that Yolo Food Bank can prioritize the needs of low-income residents during this time of crisis.
Great Plates delivers 3 meals a day to eligible low income seniors 65 and older and adults 60-64 in Yolo County who are at high risk from COVID-19. Sign up by calling 211.
Meals on Wheels suspends regular group congregate dining at our senior centers in Davis, Winters, West Sacramento and Woodland from Monday, March 16 – Friday, April 3rd. People will still receive meals. Clients can just drive/walk up, sign in, and take their meal with them to eat at home. For now, the home delivered meals program will continue on with no changes. If you need meals delivered to your home, many West Sacramento restaurants allow food ordering through various smartphone apps: DoorDash, Postmates, UberEats, GrubHub, ChowNow, Caviar.

Yolo County Library Adds Additional Curbside Service Days.

Meals

Washington Unified School District Nutrition Services will provide an opportunity for families to pick up lunch and breakfast in a mobile walk up or drive-thru meal service for children 18 and under. This will occur 3 days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and you will be able to pick up 2 days worth of food on those days. There are 8 school sites from operating from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The sites include Elkhorn, Westfield, Westmore, Riverbank, Southport, Stonegate, Bridgeway, and WUSD School Bus at 731 F Street. These meals will be available for free for anyone 18 and under regardless of what school they attend.

Women Infants and Children (WIC): Yolo County residents can apply for the Women Infants and Children’s Program which provides food supports and formula for children under 5 over the phone. Folks can apply over the phone at (530) 666-8445. If no one answers please leave a message and a WIC staffer will call back to assist with the application.

If you are an individual living with a mental health condition, you can get support through Yolo NAMI’s virtual Connection Support Group. California also has a 24/7 statewide mental health phone line to help those who need help but aren't in crisis called the “Warm Line”. You can call the Peer-Run Warm Line at 1-855-845-7415 or click here.

Health and Human Services (HHSA) offers standard benefits, like CalFresh and Medi-Cal, for those that meet income and asset requirements. Staff are available over the phone, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm and you can apply online by visiting http://www.yolocounty.org/government/general-government-departments/health-human-services/welfare.

Homeowners/Renters

On March 18, 2020 the West Sacramento City Council adopted an ordinance establishing a temporary moratorium on eviction of residential and commercial business tenants who suffer substantial wage or business losses due to the implementation measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease. This ordinance is an emergency measure that was set to expire May 31, 2020 but, under the Governor's Executive Order N-66-20 issued on May 29, 2020, has been extended to be in effect through July 28, 2020. The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has directed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the Enterprises) to suspend foreclosures and evictions for at least 60 days due to the coronavirus national emergency.

Homeless Response

As of July 14^th, 2021, 100 homeless individuals were being sheltered in West Sacramento motels to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 among this vulnerable population. The effort is being facilitated by Yolo County Health and Human Services in coordination with the West Sacramento Police Department. Those being sheltered are given hot meals, health and other supportive services.
